First confirmed hire through Jobs in Pods
September 28, 2007 at 2:07 pm | In Success Stories | No CommentsWe just spoke with Chuck Chesler of Village Office Supply in Norwalk, CT. He is the President of the company and did a podcast with us back in April where he described his opening for Outside Sales Reps. Over the course of the past few months his podcast has been downloaded more than 360 times.
Several job seekers have contacted him after listening to his jobcast. In fact, he brought two of them in for an interview. He hired the second candidate who is now in his 3rd week of training.
Perhaps this jobcasting idea works after all!
Job seekers loves Jobs in Pods
September 18, 2007 at 2:01 pm | In In the News | 1 CommentYesterday a job seeker left the following comment on the blog post for Verizon Wireless Telesales position.
It was very encouraging, as well as, very inviting after having listened to the audio, I am very interested in applying for a position with Verizon. The audio was pretty down to earth and explicit enough for anyone to relate to. It gives a job hunter a pretty broad overview of what to expect of the company and position he/she is applying for. I applaud this approach and looking forward to the opportunity of joining this realm of talented, hard-working, and idealistic people.
Sincerely,
Sigrid O. Lintag

This is proof positive that job seekers love the idea of podcasting your jobs and hearing straight from your employees.
Latest Press Release: Employers Discover Jobcasting

Employers Discover Jobcasting in Recruiting
Several Fortune 500 companies are pioneering a unique new recruiting tool.
(PRWEB) September 11, 2007 — Several forward thinking employers have recently begun podcasting their jobs in an effort to connect with the iPod generation of job seeker. The process, also known as Jobcasting, is a unique way to attract job applicants. Several companies including AT&T, VerizonWireless and Walgreens have teamed up with JobsinPods.com (http://jobsinpods.com) where their podcasts appear for listening or download.
Each jobcast focuses on a specific job or career path at that employer. Walgreens’ first podcast focuses on Pharmacy careers, while future ones will talk about hourly workers and management positions. AT&T’s podcasts focus on a variety of positions including sales in Alabama and technicians in California.
“This is a great way to establish relationships with passive candidates”, says Chris Russell, the founder of Jobs in Pods. “It really humanizes your company and gives your jobs a voice unlike a text job description.”, he adds.
Other companies who have podcasted their jobs include Veer.com of Calgary Canada, Exempla Healthcare of Denver Colorado, Connecticut Business Systems, XL Communications of Stamford, CT and Idaho National Laboratory.
Russell contends that today’s generation of job seekers require a different approach to recruiting. “They don’t like dull, corporate-speak. They require unique and creative methods of communication. iPods are also part of their daily life and any company which uses Jobs in Pods will have their podcasts available for download on the iTunes site.” Jobs in Pods also gives employers the ability to embed these podcasts on their corporate career sites.
