Our founder Chris Russell, was just featured in a new Workforce Magazine article. Here’s his quote;
Chris Russell, founder and president of JobsinPods.com, developed a Facebook application because it gives employers additional visibility among members of Generation Y, who typically are defined as those born between the late 1970s and 2000. Launched in March, JobsinPods is an audio job board allowing employers to record podcasts containing information about career opportunities within their companies and distribute them electronically.
The company’s Facebook application was introduced this month and allows recruiters and hiring managers who are members of Facebook to embed their podcast in their personal page. Russell hopes to enhance his Facebook application, making it more interactive and creating a function to allow podcasts to be e-mailed.
“The iPod generation is bored with the conventional communication techniques that employers use to reach them,” he says. “They want something fresh and real, like podcasts, which are very commonly used within this group.”

New recruiting campaign for Denver Hospital utilizes innovative audio interviews to attract talent.
(PRWEB) October 2, 2007 — Jobs in Pods, the web’s first ever podcast service for recruiting, announced today that Denver based Exempla Healthcare has begun a new recruitment campaign which highlights the different career opportunities inside one of Colorado’s top hospital systems. Exempla is the first such hospital system in the U.S. to utilize this new recruiting platform.
The first podcast, (aka “Jobcast”) published in late August, discusses their need for nurses and can be listened to at Jobsinpods.com (http://jobsinpods.com). In the second podcast, one of Exempla’s top nurses talks about what its like to work there. The third podcast features a discussion with CEO Jeff Selberg where he talks about the company culture and the kind of people they hire.
Gillian Sloan, Recruitment Manager for Exempla Lutheran Hospital spearheaded the effort. “We operate in a highly competitive labor market for skilled workers in the clinical and non-clinical areas. So, we have to be creative and “early adopters” in using technology such as this to reach out to future employees before the competition does! We hope this communicates to candidates that Exempla embraces a forward thinking approach in all aspects of business - from recruiting employees to delivering patient care”.
Future Exempla podcasts with employees are planned including those focused on clinical disciplines such as imaging, pharmacy, physical and occupational therapy.
“This is a great way to speak to the iPod generation of job seekers”, says Chris Russell, the founder of Jobs in Pods. “Exempla Healthcare is humanizing their jobs and connecting with job seekers in a medium they are comfortable with”, he adds.
The Exempla jobcasts represent one of many ‘firsts’ for the new startup. In July, Walgreens became the first retailer to podcast their jobs. Recently employers such as AT&T & Verizon Wireless have signed on. Even Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, a national restaurant chain, has begun jobcasting.
Russell contends that today’s generation of job seekers require a different approach to recruiting. “They don’t like dull, corporate-speak. They require unique and creative methods of communication. A podcast engages candidates much better than plain old text description”. Jobs in Pods also gives employers the ability to embed these podcasts on their corporate career sites.
